GOVANA

GOVANA

Govana, born Romeo Nelson on May 10, 1990, in Spanish Town, Jamaica, is a prominent Jamaican dancehall artist. He initially went by the stage name Deablo but changed it after a life-changing event in 2011, when he was shot in the back, leaving a bullet lodged in his spine. His recovery and the encouragement of a police officer led to his decision to adopt the name "Govana." Govana’s music career gained momentum after he became a protégé of the veteran dancehall artist Aidonia. His unique style blends gritty street lyrics with a more melodic approach to the genre, which has earned him a reputation for his lyrical versatility. His work covers a variety of themes, from his personal experiences growing up in Spanish Town to celebrating his success and legacy. His hit songs include collaborations with artists like Skeng, Jada Kingdom, and Koffee.
