Kehlani, born Kehlani Ashley Parrish on April 24, 1995, in Oakland, California, is a prominent American singer, songwriter, and dancer. She first garnered attention as a member of the teen group Poplyfe, which competed on "America's Got Talent" in 2011. After the group disbanded, Kehlani launched a successful solo career, beginning with her mixtape Cloud 19 in 2014. Her second mixtape, You Should Be Here (2015), was a critical success and led to a record deal with Atlantic Records. She followed up with her debut studio album SweetSexySavage (2017), showcasing her unique blend of R&B, neo-soul, and pop influences. Kehlani has since released several successful projects, including While We Wait (2019) and It Was Good Until It Wasn't (2020). Known for her openness about her personal life, Kehlani has been an advocate for mental health and LGBTQ+ rights.
