Kayawoto

Kayawoto, born Abdoul Kaboré, is a Burkinabe rapper and artist known for his unique contributions to the local hip hop scene. Rising to prominence about four years ago, Kayawoto gained attention during a freestyle gathering of young Burkinabe rappers, where his raw talent stood out. He blends his rap with local cultural influences, particularly through the use of mooré, his native language, giving his music a distinct flavor he calls "Maouland." His debut album, Maouland, released in 2021, received significant acclaim and earned him several nominations at the Kundé Awards. Kayawoto’s style is reflective and thought-provoking, with his lyrics often addressing themes of life, death, and self-improvement. His music has been well-received in Burkina Faso, but he aims to reach a wider international audience, drawing comparisons to global hip-hop figures and working to elevate Burkinabe rap onto the world stage.
