Masicka, born Kirk Jones on December 4, 1993, in Jamaica, is a prominent dancehall artist known for his unique lyrical style and captivating music. His journey began in his hometown of Portmore, where he honed his skills in local talent shows. His breakout came after winning a DJ competition on Hype TV in 2009, which led to a partnership with Equinoxx Music, producing hits like "Anno Sometime." His early influences included Vybz Kartel, and like Kartel, Masicka developed a distinctive flow that blends intense lyricism with melodic rhythms, quickly gaining popularity in Jamaica and internationally. Masicka's debut album 438 (2022) was well received, solidifying his position in dancehall, and he's already working on his follow-up project. He has collaborated with major artists like Vybz Kartel, Alkaline, and Mavado, and his fan base extends beyond Jamaica, with significant support in Canada and Germany.
