Jessi, born Ho Hyun-ju (Jessica Ho) on December 17, 1988, in New York City, is a Korean-American rapper, singer, and songwriter. Raised in New Jersey, she moved to South Korea as a teenager to pursue her music career. Jessi debuted in 2005 with the single album Get Up and gained prominence through her participation in the hip-hop trio Lucky J in 2014 and the reality show Unpretty Rapstar in 2015. Known for her bold personality and candid lyrics, Jessi has released hits like "Ssenunni," "NUNU NANA," and "ZOOM." After signing with Psy's label P Nation in 2019, she released several successful tracks, including "Who Dat B" and "What Type of X," solidifying her status in the Korean music scene. In 2023, Jessi joined Jay Park’s label More Vision and released "Gum." Over the years, she has also been a part of popular variety shows like Sister's Slam Dunk and Sixth Sense and the project group Refund Sisters. Jessi's artistry blends hip-hop, pop, and R&B, characterized by her unique voice, confidence, and authenticity.
