Kefee, born Irikefe Obareki Don-Momoh on February 5, 1980, in Sapele, Delta State, Nigeria, was a renowned Nigerian gospel artist. She started singing in the children’s choir at the age of eight and became a choir director by eighteen. Kefee gained fame with her debut album Branama in 2003, which sold millions of copies and brought her national and international recognition. Known for her powerful vocals and inspirational lyrics, her music blended Afro-pop, R&B, and traditional African sounds. Over her career, she released other notable albums like A Piece of Me and Chorus Leader and delivered hits such as "Kokoroko" and "Celebrate." Kefee received several awards, including multiple recognitions at the Nigeria Music Awards and South-South Music Awards. She was also a philanthropist, founding the Kefee Peace Foundation to promote social causes. Kefee was married twice, with her second marriage to radio host Teddy Don-Momoh in 2013. Tragically, she passed away on June 12, 2014, in Los Angeles, California, due to lung failure. Her legacy continues through her music and her impact on the gospel genre in Nigeria.
